She was born August 23, 1922 in Winsted, Connecticut to Hermidas and Melina (Morrissette) Lamoureux. At the age of 21, Albina enlisted with the Womens Army Corps (WAC) of the U.S. Army to serve her country during World War II. Stationed in Australia, she met her future husband, Stanley, during their active service in the Philippines, and they were married on July 18, 1945. Upon Albina’s discharge from the U.S. Army, she attained the rank of Sgt. and received several medals and citations, including the American Theater Ribbon, Asiatic Pacific Theater Ribbon with 3 Bronze Battle Stars and 3 Overseas Service Bars.
She and Stanley moved to River Grove following their military service, where she was co-owner with her husband of Skild Plating of Chicago. They moved to McHenry in 1977, where Albina worked in the administrative area at Sun Electric for a number of years.
Albina was a member of V.F.W. Post 4600 in McHenry. She enjoyed gardening, sewing, and knitting in her leisure time.
She is survived by three children, Robin (John) Ramberg of McHenry, Gary Weincouff of Bensenville, and Dale Weincouff of River Grove; four grandchildren, Amber Kachiroubas, Nicholas Ramberg, Alexander Ramberg, and Dawna (Tony) Maggard; and five great-grandchildren, Christopher, Stephen, Isabella, Madison, and Peter.
In addition to her parents, Albina was preceded in death by her husband, Stanley, on August 6, 1999; three brothers, Joseph, Raymond, and Louis; and two sisters, Blanche and Eleanor.
The funeral Mass will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, March 23, 2017 at St. Bede Catholic Church, 36455 N Wilson Rd, Ingleside, IL 60041. Friends may visit with her family prior to the Mass from 10 a.m until 11 a.m. Interment will follow in Woodland Cemetery, McHenry.
Her family kindly requests no flowers please.
