Ambrose Kittl, age 88, of McHenry, died unexpectedly at his home on Monday, January 9, 2012.
He was born October 20, 1923 in Hungary to Stefan and Katharina (Pauch) Kittl. Following World War II, Ambrose was displaced from his homeland and found a new life in Northern France. It was here Ambrose met Marcella Leclerq, they were married in November of 1947. While still living in France they had two sons. Ambrose honed his skill at masonry here before the family immigrated to the United States in 1955; they made their home close to relatives on Chicago’s north side. Soon after, they happily welcomed twins. As patriarch of his family and amidst great struggle, Ambrose kept his nuclear family intact after the death of his wife Marcella. In October of 1965 he married Emma Wenzler and together they lovingly raised his children. The family later moved to Wonder Lake, the location of many happy summer memories. After a short time at his ranch in Missouri, Ambrose moved back to Wonder Lake and finally to McHenry, where he lived his final days.
Ambrose was best known for his aptitude in his craft of masonry as well as several other forms of construction. A tenacious work ethic and endless energy defined the well-intentioned and inspired actions of Ambrose. He will be remembered best for his strong, intuitive will and outgoing personality.
He is survived by two sons, Andre (Sharon) Kittl of Channahon, Ambrose (Mary Jane) Kittl of McHenry; seven grandchildren, Christopher, Jason (Nickie), Marcella, Stefanie, Jonathan, Jennifer (Michael) Brennan, and Audri; great grandchildren Julius, Arianna, Eva, Mia, Vivienne, Avery, Austin and Charlotte; a sister, Elizabeth Heiser; brother-in-law and sister-in-law John and Katie Wenzler; and several nieces and nephews.
