Annette M. Kloss, age 96, formerly of McHenry, died Monday, August 4, 2008 at Lexington Healthcare of Wheeling.
She was born March 29, 1912 in Chicago to Stanley and Mary (Soliwoda) Warych. On September 26, 1931 she married Henry Kloss who preceded her in death in 1987.
Born and raised in Chicago, Annette married and continued to live in Chicago until moving to McHenry in 1978.
During WWII she volunteered with the Red Cross and was an announcer on the radio for the Red Cross. She worked as a milliner for years then went on to open her own children’s apparel shop, “Annette’s Juvenile Shop”.
In retirement she and her husband were very involved in gardening and flower arranging. Annette was the president of the Garden Club of Niles. She won many blue ribbons and awards for their floral displays at the conservatory. Annette was an excellent seamstress and loved to knit and crochet. She was a member of St. John’s Ladies Sodality.
Survivors include two daughters, Elaine (Raymond) Wells of Anthem, Az., Marilyn Morrison of Elk Grove Village; a daughter-in-law, Dolores Kloss of Cupertino, Ca.; 14 grandchildren, Denise, Sandra, Karen, Susan, Barbara, Paul, Philip, Daniel, Donna, Jim, Mary, Kathleen, Julie and Michael; 22 great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Henry of 55 years; a son Henry Kloss; her parents; six brothers, Frank, Joseph, Bernard, Stanley, Thadeus, Leonard; and three sisters, Jeanette, Jean and Victoria.
Visitation will be from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Tuesday, August 12, 2008 at Justen Funeral Home & Crematory, 3700 W. Charles J. Miller Road, McHenry, Il 60050.
The funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, August 13, at St. John the Baptist Church, 2302 W. Church St., Johnsburg, Il 60051.
Interment will be private.
