Anthony John “Tony” Lytner, age 67, of McHenry, died Wednesday, September 3, 2008 at Northern Illinois Medical Center, McHenry.
He was born April 4, 1941 in Meadowlands, Minnesota to Frank and Antonia (Hanack) Lytner. On November 5, 1976, he married Deanna McWilliams in Woodstock.
A resident of Wauconda for many years, Tony then lived in Algonquin for three years before moving to McHenry in 1976. He was the proprietor of a cabinet business, “Tony Lytner”, which he owned and operated for over 40 years. He was a member of Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church, the McHenry Moose Lodge, the Wauconda Masonic Lodge, and was very actively involved in the McHenry Lions Club.
He enjoyed fishing, hunting, cooking, gardening, and spending time with his grandchildren. He will be fondly remembered for his sense of humor and his love of telling jokes.
Survivors include his wife of 31 years, Deanna “Dee” Lytner; four children, Michael (Lorraine) McWilliams of Acworth, GA., Jodie (Larry) Treptow of McHenry, Melanie (Bob) Rowe of Appleton, WI, Denise Whisenant of Orlando, FL.; two grandchildren, Kyle Larke and Tanner Rowe; five sisters, Evelyn (the late Larry) Voss of New Brighton, MN., Ruth (Milan) Rajacich of St. Paul. MN., Helen (the late Louis) Glumac of Hibbing, MN., Irene Streeter of Toledo, OH, Millie (the late Steve) Pavuk of Toledo, OH; two brothers, Tom (the late Betty) Lytner of Chisholm, MN, Ed (Joyce) Lytner of Foley, MN.; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, George and Frank; and a sister, Olga.
Visitation will be from 1 p.m. until 5 p.m. on Sunday, September 7, 2008 at Justen Funeral Home & Crematory, 3700 W. Charles J. Miller Road, McHenry, Il 60050. The Lions Club will pay their respects as a group at 4 p.m.
The funeral service will be at 11 a.m. on Monday, September 8, at Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church, 404 N. Green Street, McHenry. The Rev. Roger Schneider will officiate. Friends may meet the family at church from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m.
Inurnment will be private.
