Barbara Ann Yung, age 78, of McHenry, died Sunday, December 9, 2012, at Hospice of Northeastern Illinois in Woodstock.
She was born August 29, 1934 in Oak Park to Ralph and Edna Johnson. Raised in Oak Park, Barbara lived in this area since 1950. She attended her last two years of high school at Grant High School, and graduated with the class of 1952. Barbara met her future husband, William H. Yung at a wedding they both attended, and they later married on October 3, 1953 at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in Long Lake.
While raising their family, Barbara farmed with her husband for 13 years. For many years, Barbara worked as a nanny and/or a cook in private family residences. For a time, Barbara also drove school bus for the Richmond High School.
Always on the go, Barbara enjoyed trips to Branson, MO, and loved to go to the racetrack at Lake Geneva. She often attended Special Olympics events with her son, John. Favorite pastimes included sewing, stitchery, and latch hooking. A loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, she will be dearly missed by her family.
Survivors include her loving husband of 59 years, William; two children, John Yung of McHenry and Carol Ann (Rick) Corso of McHenry; two grandchildren, Jennifer (John) Bray of Fox Lake and Melissa (Brent) Farmer of McHenry; three great grandchildren, Kylie Farmer, Skyler and Gabriel Bray, with two more on the way; and a sister, Delores (the late Howard) Rosenblatt of Toledo, OH.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and a sister, Lenora (the late Fred) Bonin.
Visitation will be from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. Thursday, December 13, 2012, at Justen Funeral Home & Crematory, 3700 W. Charles J. Miller Road, McHenry, IL 60050.
The funeral service will be at 11:30 a.m., Friday, December 14, 2012, at the funeral home.
Interment will be in Cedarvale Cemetery, Solon Mills.
