Bernice E. Swanson, age 86, of Round Lake Beach, died Friday, May 23, 2008, at Condell Medical Center in Libertyville.
She was born September 30, 1921 in Chicago to Oscar and Lillian Westphal.
For over 55 years, she was a resident of Round Lake Beach, and was an employee of Abbott for 14 years.
She was a devoted member of St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church, where she also participated in the Mother’s Club. She was an avid Chicago Cubs fan, and was a loving grandmother and great-grandmother.
She is survived by two children, Elaine Carlson of Round Lake, and Kenneth (Carol) Swanson of Lake Villa; four grandchildren, Gregory (Jennifer) Carlson of Genoa City, Wisconsin, Carrie O’Neill of Ingleside, Zachary Swanson of Lake Villa, and Joshua Swanson of Lake Villa; five great grandchildren, Kevin, Alexandrea, Ashley, Collin, and Allison; and a sister, Dorothy (the late Raymond) Drinan of McHenry.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and her husband, Kenneth B. Swanson on April 12, 1953.
The visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday, May 27, 2008, at Justen’s Round Lake Funeral Home, 222 N. Rosedale Court, Round Lake. The visitation will resume on Wednesday from 9:30 a.m. until the 10:30 a.m. funeral service at St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church, Round Lake. A luncheon will be held at the church following the funeral, and prior to leaving for the cemetery. Interment will be in Fairview Memorial Park Cemetery, Northlake.
