Bertha Iona Zalinski, age 83, of Round Lake Park, passed away Sunday February 12, 2006 at Condell Medical Center in Libertyville.
She was born February 5, 1923 in Waverly, TN. To Willard and Marie Hicks.
She was a resident of Evanston for 26 years before moving to Johnson City in southern Illinois where she lived for over 25 years. Bertha moved to Round Lake Park four years ago. She was a homemaker most of her life She enjoyed gardening, sewing, cooking, baking, crafts and fishing.
Survivors include three children, Charles (Kathleen) Baker of Round Lake Park, Mary Jane (Walton) Kinney of Bunnell, FL., Lillie (Terry) Wilson of St. Petersburg, FL.; six grandchildren; two great grandchildren; two sisters, Opal (Charles) Cowan of Sanford, FL., Mattie (the late John) Work of Waverly, TN.; and a special niece, Joyce Ann (Dan) Panuce of Harvard.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Charlie Baker in 1964; her second husband, John Zalinski in 2000; her parents; and a brother Jim Hicks.
Visitation will be from 12 p.m. until 2 p.m. on Saturday, February 18, 2006 at Justen’s Round Lake Funeral Home, 222 N. Rosedale Court (at Cedar Lake Road), Round Lake, IL 60073.
The funeral service will be at 1 p.m. on Saturday, February 18, at the funeral home. The Rev. Kauffman will officiate.
Interment will be private.
