Beverly Dale Justen, died Saturday, Oct. 25, 2008, at Northern Illinois Medical Center in McHenry.
She was born July 17, 1933 in Wonewoc, Wis., to Neil B. and Grace (Stanley) Blish. Her family moved to McHenry in 1949.
A graduate of McHenry High School in 1951, she was employed as the first window drive up teller at the McHenry State Bank. Later, after raising her family, she resumed banking duties at the McHenry Savings and Loan. She also attended credit courses at the Chicago City Colleges. Beverly was a lifetime member of the Catholic Council of Women.
Beverly married John “Jack” Justen of McHenry on Sept. 6, 1958, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church. The couple recently celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary.
Her greatest joys were watching her children perform at athletic functions, and she immensely enjoyed the outdoors, flower gardening and bird watching.
She is survived by her husband, John Justen; her four children, Jeffrey Justen of Peoria, Jody Justen of McHenry, Stacey (Jon) Haapala of Gurnee, and Kristy (William) Hecke of Kenosha Wis.; her four grandchildren, Nathaniel Justen, Brandon Hecke, Jacob Haapala and Lindsey Haapala; her brother, Arthur Blish of Shawano, Wis., and her sister, Margaret (Louis) Kick of Yorkville.
The visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 30, at Justen Funeral Home & Crematory, 3700 W. Charles J. Miller Road, McHenry.
The visitation will continue at 10 a.m. Friday, Oct. 31 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 1401 N. Richmond Road, McHenry.
Interment will be in St. Mary Cemetery, McHenry.
In lieu of flowers, memorials to the American Cancer Society or to the American Heart Association would be appreciated by the family.
