Charlene J. Marco, age 80, of Bull Valley, passed away quietly in her home on March 1, 2015, after battling Alzheimer’s Disease.
She grew up in Chicago, graduated from Taft High School and studied at Wright Junior College and the Art Institute of Chicago. She worked in the 1950’s as a secretary for International Harvester and Hazel-Atlas.
On June 14, 1958, she married John F. Marco in Chicago. They moved to McCullom Lake in 1960, and then to Bull Valley in 1964. Charlene was an artist who raised a family and did custom sewing. She made many beautiful clothes for herself and her family and a local clientele. She contributed her time by making Christmas ornaments for the Woodstock Hospital Auxiliary’s “Coners” group in the 1970s and 1980s, and was an early member of the Bull Valley Village Planning Commission. Her many interests included gardening, painting and drawing, furniture refinishing, reading, crafts of all kinds, and quilting.
She is survived by her husband of 57 years, John; two daughters, Rebecca Marco and Roberta Marco; and a son, John Marco.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and a brother, Charles.
Interment was private.
