Charlene M. Fischer, age 76, of McHenry, passed away Friday, Sept. 25, 2015, at Crystal Pines Health Care Center in Crystal Lake after a courageous battle with cancer. Charlene faced this disease with great grace and dignity. Her quick wit and lovely smile will be greatly missed.
She was born February 9, 1939 in Oak Park to Albert M. Sr. and Charlotte (Sellick) Jourdan.
Formerly of Oak Park, Charlene resided in McHenry since 1958. Her Lutheran faith was a guiding force throughout her life. Charlene was a woman of great faith, trusting in God’s grace to lead her.
Charlene worked as a beautician for most of her career. She also was employed as an assistant at SEDOM and later in life at Lenco Electronics. She enjoyed being a homemaker, as well as gardening, crafting, and crocheting, reading, and taking long walks around the neighborhood.
Survivors include three children; six grandchildren; a brother, Albert M. (Carrie) Jourdan Jr.; a niece, Deb Diedrich; a nephew, Al (Kelly) Jourdan III; grand-nieces, Christine Diedrich, Amanda Kochan, Samantha Tatera, and Michelle (Matt) Mutchler; grand-nephews, Scott (Laura) Diedrich, Austin Jourdan, and Jon (Kristen) McMeins.
Friends are invited to visit with her family from noon until 1:30 p.m., Saturday, October 3, 2015, at Justen Funeral Home & Crematory, 3700 W. Charles J. Miller Road, McHenry, IL 60050. The memorial service will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Inurnment will be in Woodland Cemetery, McHenry.
