Chester Andraski, age 82, died Saturday, October 11, 2008, at Good Shepherd Hospital in Barrington.
He was born Nov. 6, 1925 in Poland to Franciszek and Franciszka (Jagaczewska) Andraski. On June 21, 1953, he married Janina Bielski in Poland. They immigrated to the United States on December 29, 1963, staying first in Minnesota before settling in Chicago. In 1972, Chester and his wife moved to Des Plaines, where they resided for 17 years. In 1989, they moved to McHenry to be closer to their family.
Chester was a machinist for AFCO of Des Plaines
Enjoyments included gardening and tending to his yard, dancing with his wife, and the accordian. He was a handyman, and will be remembered for being creative, genuine, and enjoying good humor.
He was a member of St. Mary Church in McHenry.
Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Janina; three children, Elizabeth (Frank) Musial of McHenry, Basia (David) Herron of McHenry, and John (Dorothy) Andraski of Monroe, WI; five grandchildren, Kristin, Alexandra, Veronica, Luke, and Christopher; a great grandchild, Anthony; and a brother, Tadek Andraski of Poland.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday, October 15, 2008, at Justen Funeral Home & Crematory, 3700 W.Charles J. Miller Road, McHenry. Visitation will resume at 9:15 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home, with prayers said at 10:15 a.m. prior to leaving for the funeral Mass.
The funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 16, at St. Mary Catholic Church, 1401 N. Richmond Road, McHenry.
Interment will be in St. Mary Cemetery, McHenry.
