Clotilde H. “Claudie” Rodiek, age 81, died early Sunday morning, January 24, 2016, at Centegra Hospital – McHenry.
She was born August 29, 1934 in Chicago to Rudolph and Mary Mumme. Formerly of Mt. Prospect and Palatine, she was an educator and secretary for many years.
Claudie lived in McHenry for over 25 years, and was an active member of Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church in McHenry. At church, she served on the Altar Guild, led the Naomi Circle, participated in Wednesday night Bible study, and most recently attended every meeting for the committee in charge of the renovation of the kitchen and sacristy areas at church. If someone were in need of a ride at church, it was Claudie who often volunteered. She brought a wheel-chair bound member to church every Sunday and also brought the person in with her when she helped the church office on special projects. Claudie regularly visited nursing home residents as well as those hospitalized. Her pleasant and caring nature and spontaneous willingness to help where needed will be greatly missed by her church family.
She is survived by her children, Ronald (Caryn) Ruhnke, Douglas (Dawn) Ruhnke, Tim (Sheila) Rodiek, Karen Rodiek, Pam Rodiek, and Amy (Kurt) Klebe; six grandchildren, including Elisabeth (Chris) Baima and Kurt (Mary) Ruhnke and four other grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Herman Rodiek, on May 17, 2000.
