Clyde Harold Kuehl, 70, of Crystal Lake, passed away Sunday, December 15, 2013, at his home.
Clyde was born August 28, 1943 in Chicago to Albert J. & Lucille L. Kuehl. He grew up in Crystal Lake, where he attended Immanuel Lutheran School, and graduated from Crystal Lake High School in 1961. After school, Clyde joined the United States Air Force, where he served from 1961-1962.
Clyde married Mary Ann Shields on November 30, 1968. They had just celebrated their 45th wedding anniversary. They went on to have three children; Toni, April, and Barry.
In 1969, Clyde started working for Northern Illinois Gas Co., where he put in 30 years until his retirement in 1999.
In the 1970’s & 80’s, he dedicated his time to Little League, having coached hundreds of kids in the Crystal Lake area. He had a great love for animals, having had many dogs over the years, and even a few cats in the last few. His last, and most loyal friend, Bomber, passed away 5 months before him.
Clyde was a wonderful husband and father. Mary Ann was the love of his life, and rarely would one be found without the other. They truly are the definition of soul mates. He spent countless hours with his children, having coached Toni’s teams in softball, Barry’s teams in Little League, and teaching April all there was to know about working on cars. He will be forever missed by his family who loved him beyond measure.
Survivors include his wife of 45 years, Mary Ann; three children, Toni Kuehl of Crystal Lake, April (Eddie) Cole of Desert Hot Springs, CA, and Barry (Heidi) Kuehl of Juneau, WI; six grandchildren, Jason Ryan of Desert Hot Springs, CA, Shelia, Andria, and Thomas Martinez of Crystal Lake, and Lena and Joseph Kuehl of Crystal Lake; two sisters, Katherine (James) Jablonski of McHenry, and Karen Graham of Crystal Lake.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
There will be no services per his wishes.
