David Adane Bowles, age 74, of Wonder Lake, passed away Wednesday, November 22, 2006 at Northern Illinois Medical Center, McHenry.
He was born August 21, 1932 in Worcester, Massachusetts to Cyril A. And Irene (Sampson) Bowles. On July 28, 1972 he married Jean A. Goodeve in Woodstock.
Formerly of Clinton, Illinois, David was a Wonder Lake resident for the past 39 years. He was the former President of Look Out Point subdivision, and also served in various other leadership roles in the Wonder Lake area. His straight talk on Wonder Lake issues was his passion and he will be greatly missed.
He was a U.S. Navy veteran, serving during the Korean War as a radar technitian. After serving in the Navy he attended the University of Illinois earning his bachelor of Arts degree in 1961.
David was a carpenter by trade and after moving to Wonder Lake he became proprietor of Contractors Service. David also raised and raced, standard breed horses.
He liked gardening, was an avid fishing and hunting enthusiast, was very knowledgeable regarding all the Chicago sporting activities, and enjoyed swapping stories during coffee time at Busy Bee.
Survivors include his wife of 34 years, Jean; five children, Michelle Hennings of Atlanta, Ga., Linda (Marlon) Tejada of Waukesha, Wi., Mary (Scott) Fredrick of Waukesha, Wi., Sandi (Chrys Dudek) Kasting of Nevada City, Ca., Martin (Rhonda) Kasting of Poplar Grove; eight grandchildren, Dustin, Jessica, Benjamin, Caila, Chase, Ryan, Kaley, Eric; two great grandchildren, Camryn and Taylor; a two sisters, Virginia (the late Tony) Kay of Miami, Fl., and Barbara Berg of Smyrna, Ga.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Visitation will be from 1 p.m. until 4 p.m. on Sunday, November 26, at Justen’s Wonder Lake Funeral Home, 7611 Hancock Drive, Wonder Lake, Il. 60097.
The funeral Mass will be celebrated at 2 p.m. on Monday, November 27, at Christ The King Church, 5006 E. Wonder Lake Road, Wonder Lake, IL. The Rev. Steven Sabo officiating.
Interment will be in Christ the King Cemetery, Wonder Lake.
