Dona Rose Brown, age 83, of Crystal Lake, died Thursday, October 25, 2012, at Centegra Hospital-McHenry.
She was born August 31, 1929 in Craig, Missouri to Cecil C. and Wilma K. (Wickiser) McPike. Dona married her high school sweetheart, Truel Lee Brown Jr., on April 9, 1950.
She and her husband moved to this area from Kansas when her husband assumed the role of Sr. Vice President at Sun Electric in Crystal Lake. After living in Barrington and Turnberry for several years, they moved to Arizona and then Florida. In 2003, Dona returned to live in Crystal Lake, where she was able to be nearer to her daughters.
Dona attended Cary United Methodist Church and participated in the Dorcas Circle Group.
Passionate about the game of golf, she was proud of her two documented holes-in-one. While living in Florida, she enjoyed her “dream” job of working in retail at Golf Gear, showing all the latest golfing necessities.
She is survived by two daughters, Pamela Lynn Dopp of Kenosha and Kimberly S. (Warren) Weidner of Cary; three grandchildren, Richard Truel (Bridgette) Dopp of Kenosha, Chris Weidner of Cary, and Kyle Weidner of Cary; two great grandchildren, Hallie Rose and Dominic; and two sisters, Sue (the late John) Burke of Denton, Kansas, and Linda Van Pelt of Branson, Missouri.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and her husband, Truel Lee Brown Jr. in 2001.
A memorial service is being planned by the family at a later date.
