Donald E. Quist, age 78, of McHenry, died Tuesday, January 12, 2016, at his residence.
He was born July 12, 1937 in Chicago, to the late Frank and Marjorie (Herdrich) Quist. On September 21, 1957, he married the love of his life Shirley Sweet in Hernandez, MS.
Formerly of Barrington, in 1962 Donald moved to Kent Acres and built his home. He was employed for over 37 years with ComEd as a lineman, which he retired from in 1994. He was an avid fisherman, and enjoyed taking fishing trips to Canada. He was a loyal Chicago Bears fan, and liked to watch Sprint and Nascar races. Donald was a member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local 15. He was a devoted husband, loving father, and doting grandfather.
Donald is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Shirley; three children, Theresa Quist, David Quist, Christopher Quist; and his two grandchildren, Brandon Ketchum, and Deborah Quist.
Friends and neighbors may gather from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. Friday, January 15, 2016, at Justen Funeral Home & Crematory, 3700 W. Charles J. Miller Road, McHenry, IL 60050. Visitation will resume from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home. The funeral service will be at 11 a.m. at the funeral home.
Interment will be in Woodland Cemetery in McHenry.
