Donald J. ”Charlie” Huebner, 84, of Morton Grove and Saddlebrook Farms, Grayslake, died surrounded by loving family at his home. He was born in Chicago, the son of Erwin and Elsie (nee Steiger) Huebner.
Don was a U.S. Navy Veteran. He was the proprietor of A-1 Charlie’s Locksmith and Home Maintenance. Don enjoyed camping, playing games, and his annual family gathering at the Boone County Fair Demolition Derby. Everyone who met him appreciated his quick wit. His family enjoyed his sense of humor and looked forward to his shenanigans.
He was the proud father of four children, Bruce, Brian, Karen (Don) Freund, and Gail. He is survived by his children; wife, Jeannene; grandchildren David and Daniel Huebner, Lee, Molly, and Max Freund; stepchildren Amy VerSteegh, Scott, Todd, Jeff, and Shawn Davidson; seven step- grandchildren; and two sisters, Ruth DeMichael and Lois Venn.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Clifford.
Visitation will be from 4 p.m. until 9 p.m. on Thursday, June 12, 2014 at Justen Funeral Home & Crematory, 3700 W. Charles J. Miller Road, McHenry, IL 60050.
The funeral service will be at 10:00 a.m. Friday, June 13, in the funeral home.
Interment with Military Honors will be at Flora Church Cemetery, Belvidere, IL 61008.
