Lucille, Jerry Ripley (aunt and uncle), left a message on April 5, 2021:
To the Family and Friends of Donald C. Newby: Don was a wonderful Nephew with the capacity of helping others even while fighting illness of 30 years. He always helped the children of the area for the holidays. We will miss the special occasion dinners at our home and the fun we had on our deck grilling, eating and swimming together in the summertime for many years. Don had a special gift for knowing when dinner was ready no matter what the time. Don was a wonderful blessing in our family and will be missed so very much.

Don always meant the world to my family and I. He was such a kind and caring soul. He helped me out countless time when I lived at Rosewood apartments. He would never ask anything in return. He always had a smile on his face. Finally I guarantee that he is up in heaven with my parents and brother.

Jane Pittenger left a message on March 27, 2021:
I will always remember how kind, generous and loving he was, he was just like his mom always giving of himself so selflessly and never asking for anything in return. I will never forget when I was young and he was visiting I started to choke on a chip and he saved my life I wouldn’t be here today if it wasn’t for him. When I grew up and graduated he was the one to give me my diploma and when I was even older I found the love of my life and again he was there and if it wasn’t for him my wedding wouldn’t of been as beautiful and as memorable cause he decorated the church and made sure everything ran smoothly and everyone was taken care of , I will always remember your smile cause your smile warmed my heart and could light up a room. I miss you cousin and thank you for always giving the best of you. You will forever be missed. Love and miss you , your cousin Jane Pittenger

I just want to say how Don helped me through some trying times in my life & he was just a phone call or text away. He was always there for me. He had a heart of gold, always thinking of others before himself. My dear sweet nephew I will miss you but I rejoice that you are in pain no more.
Peace of mind is a call away. We’re here when you need us most.
