Doris Pickens, an angel who was born on June 18,1960, in Kansas City, MO.
She was born to Mary (Cathrine Tyson) Jenkins and Cleveland Jackson. She
grew up with 6 siblings, three brothers (Roy & Charles Standokes,Tommy
Thomas) and three sisters (Christine White, Flora Sykes, Billie Goins).
Doris Jenkins was raised in Kansas City then moved to Los Angeles, CA. She
was a product of her Great Grandmother (Mrs. Peaches).
Doris gave birth to two children, Thomas (Crystal)Tolliver, Jr. & Reginald Lee.
Education was instrumental for Doris. Affectionately known as (DeeDee) by
her family, she became the first among them to pursue higher education,
making her a first-generation college graduate with a Bachelor’s in Business.
She would go on to complete her Masters’s in Business.
Doris became a part of programs like the LA. Democrats King Conference
Football program. This Program mentored boys and girls to become productive people in society.
Doris always took care of business. She began in Real estate and yearned to
change unfair laws. She worked alongside Senators in Illinois, which led to
her working for the state’s Social Security department.
She is well-loved by family, friends, church members, and coworkers alike.
Doris and John E. Pickens(JE) met and married, combining their families to
become one. She became a mother to Johnny, Chaffie, and LaMeca Pickens.
She even made Daniel Pickens her favorite nephew.
Doris and John would travel the country making timeless memories.
She loved helping people and she had an impact on everyone around her.
The grandchildren have become her most joy , as the years passed.
Doris lived with God and gave love to her family, children, grandchildren and
