Edna L. Hrouda, age 100, of McHenry, died Wednesday, September 19, 2007, at Sunrise Assisted Living in Crystal Lake.
She was born August 20, 1907 in Chicago to Emil and Ella (Becker) Siebert. On November 25, 1925 she married George Hrouda in Cicero. They were married for 39 years before he passed away in 1965.
She worked as a secretary at Hotpoint Corporation in Cicero for many years.
She and George were members of the Westosa Dog Club and were involved in the training of collies for many years. Edna was the type of person that was always willing to go the extra mile for you, but it was difficult for her to accept any help from anyone else. She loved to bake and remembered everyone’s birthday and important events.
Survivors include her two nephews, Donald (Barbara) Zamastil of McHenry and Dave (Marilyn) Hrouda of Grand Rapids, Minnesota; a niece-in-law, Bettie Zamastil of Ocala, Florida; six great nieces and nephews, Dave Zamastil of Wonder Lake, Dale (Donna) Zamastil of Richmond, Betty ( Dan) Schlothan of LaHabra Heights, California, Dart Zamastil of Las Vegas Nevada, Doug ( Renee) Zamastil of Wheaton, Kristine ( Dave) Vondra of Prague, Czechoslovakia; nine great great nieces, and two great great great nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, George Hrouda; her parents; a sister, Evelyn Zamastil Eichman; two Brothers-in-law, Edward Zamastil and Joe Eichman; and a nephew Glen Zamastil.
Friends may visit with her family from 5 pm to 7 pm Monday , October 8 at the George R. Justen & Son Funeral Home, 3519 W. Elm Street, McHenry, IL 60050.
For those that can not meet with the family on Monday, the visitation will continue on Tuesday, October 9 from 10 a.m. until the 10:30 a.m. service at the Chapel Hill Gardens West Cemetery Chapel in Oakbrook Terrace.
