Emma Kittl (nee Wenzler), age 78, of McHenry, died peacefully Sunday, March 13, 2011, at her home with her husband by her side.
She was born January 31, 1933 in the former Yugoslavia, now known as Croatia, to Jakob and Theresia (Speer) Wenzler. In 1957 she ventured to the United States. She married Ambrose Kittl in Chicago on October 23, 1965, and together they lovingly raised his children. They lived in Chicago until 1972, when they moved to Wonder Lake. Emma loved her life in Wonder Lake, where she expertly cultivated her garden. She shared her fabulous cooking with all those who knew her. Emma cared for her neighbors, visiting them often and building a quiet community. Emma liked spending time with her pets. She will be remembered for her kind, gentle spirit and her good sense of humor.
Survivors include her husband of 45 years, Ambrose; her sons, Andre (Sharon) Kittl of Channahon, IL, and Ambrose (Mary Jane) Kittl of McHenry; seven grandchildren, Christopher (Leah) Kittl, Jason (Nicole) Kittl, Marcella Kittl, Stephanie Kittl, Jonathan Kittl, Jennifer (Michael) Brennan, and Audri Kittl; her brother, John (Katie) Wenzler of Elgin; her nieces, Theresa Urban and Julie (Clint) Woker; her nephews, Frank Urban and Wilhelm (Sharon) Urban and her great-grandchildren, great-nieces, and great-nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Katharina Urban; a brother, Anton Wenzler, her son, Stefan J. Kittl and her daughter, Katharina M. Kittl.
Visitation will be from 9:30 am to 11 am, Wednesday, March 16, 2011, at Justen Funeral Home & Crematory, 3700 W. Charles J. Miller Road, McHenry, IL 60050. The funeral service will be at 11 am Wednesday in the funeral home.
Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery, Woodstock.
