The family of Erin (Snell) Rasmussen is saddened to announce the passing of their loving wife, daughter, and sister. Erin passed away on Tuesday, September 1, 2020 at the age of 36 from complications associated with multiple organ failure. Erin was born on August 22, 1984 in Arlington Heights, IL. On September 7, 2013 she was united in marriage to Zachary Rasmussen.
Erin grew up in Wilmette, IL and was a 2002 graduate of New Trier High School. She received her Bachelor’s Degree in Biology from the University of Indiana in 2007 and had an interesting and successful career as a Quality Assurance professional in the medical device industry. Erin was an incredibly hard worker and was well respected by her colleagues as she traveled extensively throughout the world ensuring the quality and safety of medical devices used for numerous lifesaving procedures.
Erin loved traveling for both work and enjoyment and had a passion for music and birds that will never be rivaled. She combined these passions with her incredible mind to memorize facts about birds, and could talk for hours about how to distinguish female and male birds by sound or how to differentiate a hawk from an eagle by flight. Erin had a passion for politics and social justice, was a beautiful, intelligent and witty young woman with a sarcastic sense of humor, but was also a sweet and caring person. She loved her family and friends deeply.
Erin is survived by her husband Zachary, her mother, Carol (Frank Chlebana), her father, Ken Snell (Rita Williams), her brother, Daniel Snell, her Grandparents, Robert & June Snell (Wichita, KS), her stepsister, Alex Santoro (Patrick), in-laws Jerry, Nancy, Matthew, Krystal, and Kayla, her numerous aunts, uncles and cousins, and her two dogs, Ruthie and Brandy.
Due to Covid-19, a private memorial service will be held.
In lieu of flowers, a donation in Erin’s name to the Northwestern Memorial Foundation (https://foundation.nm.org/ ) or to support one of her favorite podcasts: My Brother, My Brother, and Me; Hey Riddle Riddle; or Last Podcast on the Left, would be very much appreciated.
