Frank P. Merlo, 52 years old from McHenry, IL, passed away suddenly at home on July 23, 2022. He was born on July 28, 1969, in Waukegan, IL the son of Frank and Paula (Walters) Merlo. He and his beloved wife Tammy were married July 15, 2000, in McHenry, IL.
Frank obtained a black belt in Tae Kwon Do and taught at several locations in Lake County as a young man. He was an avid fisherman, loved cooking on his numerous grills, photography, golf, looking for treasures at garage sales to resell on ebay and going to car shows with his restored Buicks. Frank could make everyone laugh until they couldn’t breathe. He was a teller of wonderful tales with a memory like no other. His family moved to Antioch when Frank was in first grade. He maintained his friendships from first grade throughout his life. He will be fondly remembered and greatly missed by many.
Frank is survived by his wife, Tammy, her 2 children that became his own when they married, Katie Wenzara of Wright City, MO, and Nick Wenzara of Jerseyville, IL, his mother, Paula Merlo of Spring Grove, his sister Julie (Mike) Walker of Romeoville, IL. 1 grandson, Jack Hadack of Wright City, MO, his niece Nina (Ryan) Estep and her children Mikaela and Christopher of Crown Point, IN, his brother-in-law, Dan Geske of Maryville, TN and his best friend, Tom Bach of Antioch, IL.
He was preceded in death by his father Frank D. Merlo III and his wife’s parents Dale and Liz Geske.
The immediate family will have a private memorial service to spread his ashes. Celebration of life for his friends and family will be announced at a later date.
