Frederick Charles “Rick” Erickson Jr., age 52, of Woodstock, and formerly of Crystal Lake, died Saturday, January 14, 2006 in Woodstock.
He was born December 31, 1953 in Evanston to Frederick Charles Sr. and Leona (nee Radtke) Erickson. He graduated from Prospect High School in 1972. He received his bachelor’s degree from Western Illinois University in 1977. Rick went on to earn a Master of Social Work degree from Western Michigan University. He was a licensed clinical social worker and he worked as a psychotherapist in both Atlanta and the Chicago area. His clinical work focused on crisis counseling and family support. Rick loved books and was an avid reader of professional writing in the fields of social work, counseling, and psychotherapy.
He is survived by two sisters, Barbara (Robert) Weigand of Tempe, Az., Beverly Bodelson of Duluth, Ga.; six nieces and nephews, Tim (Vicky) Sime, Jennifer (Eric Robinson) Sime, Rebecca (Mark Nagasawa) Sime, Patrick Weigand, Cindi (Scott) Dornellas, Eric Bodelson; and six great nieces and nephews, Liv, Reilly, Gracine, Anni, Carly, and Elise.
He was preceded in death by his father, Frederick C. Erickson Sr., on Aug. 30, 1996; and his mother, Leona (Radtke) Erickson on March 20, 2005.
Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 8 pm on Wednesday, January 25, 2006 at the George R. Justen & Son Funeral Home, 3519 W. Elm St., McHenry, Il 60050.
The funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, January 26, 2006, at the funeral home.
