Freida P. Miller, age 84, of Lindenhurst, passed away Wednesday, February 22, 2006 at Victory Lakes Continuing Care in Lindenhurst, Illinois.
She was born July 25, 1921 in Cincinnati, Ohio, the daughter of Frank and Abbie (Roush) Ream.
A resident of Waukegan for 30 years, she was employed by Dr. Ed DeLong, a Waukegan psychiatrist, until she married Nicholas Miller and moved to McHenry.
She was a member of the Junior Women’s League of Waukegan, the McHenry Country Club and First United Methodist Church of McHenry. She enjoyed volunteer work, bowling, and golf, and was an avid Chicago Cubs fan. Mostly she enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Survivors include a daughter, Jody (Dennis) Gerzel of Ingleside; a step-daughter, Connie Miller of Chicago; three grandchildren, Greg (Lisa) Gerzel of Trevor, WI., Brad (April) Gerzel of Lake Villa, and Andy (Cathy) Gerzel of Portland, Oregon; three great grandchildren, Jacob, Alyssa and Felix Gerzel; a sister Elinor Emmons of Cincinnati; and a brother, Pete Ream of Mason, Ohio.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Nicholas P. “Nick” Miller; a son Richard Herdliska; her parents; a brother, Curtis Ream; and three sisters, Alice Bachman, Phyllis Curtis, Mildred Wilcox.
Friends may greet the family from 11 a.m. until 12 p.m. on Saturday, March 4, 2006, and are invited to attend the 12 p.m. memorial service at the George R. Justen & Son Funeral Home, 3519 W. Elm St., McHenry, Il 60050. The Rev. Gary Waters will officiate.
