Gabrielle M. Michmershuizen, age 88, of McHenry, passed away Wednesday, July 12, 2006 at Northern Illinois Medical Center, McHenry.
She was born March 25, 1918 in Plessissiville, Quebec, Canada to Alphonse and Eugenie (Roi) Plourde. On April 13, 1940 she married Robert Michmershuizen in Rochelle, Ill.
Formerly of Canada, Gabrielle moved to Rochelle in December of 1925. In 1952 she came to McHenry, then moved to Richmond from 1967 until 1983 when she returned to McHenry. She was employed for 8 years at the John Sterling Company in Richmond where she made shelving and hangers for track doors. She also worked for 10 years at Baxter Laboratories assembling dialyses machines.
She was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church. She enjoyed knitting, and had made Christmas stockings for her children and grandchildren.
Survivors include five children, JoAn (Robert) Freund of McHenry, Gerald (Nancy) Michmershuizen of Richmond, James (Pamela) Michmershuizen of Byron, Judith (Sam) Sossong of Richmond, John (Jon) Michmershuizen of Antioch; 15 grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren; a sister, Theresa (the late Roland) Caron of Sioux Narrows, Ontario, Canada; a brother, Maurice (Louise) Plourde of Rochelle; and a sister-in-law, Irene Plourde of Morton, PA..
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert (August 19, 1982); her parents; seven sisters; and five brothers.
A memorial Mass will be at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, July 18, at St. Joseph Church, 10519 Main St., Richmond. The Rev. Stephen Folorunso will officiate.
Inurnment will be in private.
