Gene L. Doescher, age 59, of Round Lake Beach, died Sunday, October 28, 2007, at his home.
He was born Dec. 29, 1947 in Eau Claire, Wisconsin, to Leonard and Shirley Doescher. On May 27, 1978, he married Loretta Bruley in Waukegan.
Formerly of the greater Lake County area since 1973, Gene was a resident of Round Lake Beach since 1989.
A veteran of the U.S. Army, Gene enlisted and served his country proudly.
He was a member of the Round Lake American Legion Post 1170. For the majority of his life, Gene was a machinist and worked for AMCO Tool of North Chicago and John Crain, of Fox Lake. In 1996, Gene had his first medical set back. Always determined to fight back, he took smaller jobs as his health declined. Recently, he was a proud associate for Wal-Mart in Antioch.
He will be remembered for being a die-hard Minnesota Vikings football fan. He also enjoyed Chicago baseball, especially the White Sox. He was an avid hunter, fisherman, and camper. A favorite activity was playing with his “best friend”, his daughter’s dog, Snookens.
He is survived by his wife, Loretta F. Doescher of Round Lake Beach; three children, Gina (Joseph) Ennesser of Winthrop Harbor, Kelly Clark of Twin Lakes, and Jesse Doescher of Round Lake Beach; four grandchildren, Joseph, Joshuah, Lindsay, and Natalie; a sister, Sandra Umbs of Eau Claire, WI; a brother, Douglas(Lynn) Doescher of Roberts, WI; his step-mother, Irene Eddy, of Menomonee, Wisconsin; and many nieces and nephews.
