Genevieve “Jean” Corra, 90, of Wonder Lake, entered peacefully into eternal life Thursday morning, November 21, 2013.
Jean was born April 10, 1923 in Chicago, the second daughter of Jozef Felix and Charlotte Mary nee Glowacki Szulczynski. In her early years, Jean had been the executive secretary at the DoAll Company in Des Plaines.
Jean was a faithful member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Des Plaines for fifty years. She continued her faithfulness as she and her husband relocated to Buffalo Grove; Sarasota and Venice, FL; and finally to Wonder Lake.
Jean enjoyed crafts, square dancing, boating, traveling, cooking, playing bridge and garage sales. She frequently entertained family and friends.
Surviving are her husband of 70 years, Edwin C. Corra (nicknamed “Unk”), whom she married on October 30, 1943 at St. Mary Catholic Church in Des Plaines; two nieces, Vivian (Robert) Heinrich of Wonder Lake and Teresa (Michael) Mahoney of Kankakee, and a nephew, Joseph (Georgia) Dobbelaere of Algonquin. Twelve grand-nieces and nephews and 14 great grand-nieces and nephews were loved and hugged abundantly.
Preceding her in death were her parents, and her sister and brother-in-law, Vivian and William Dobbelaere.
A visitation will be held on Wednesday, November 27, 2013, from 10 am until the Mass of Joy and Peace begins at 11 am at Christ the King Catholic Church, 5006 E. Wonder Lake Road, Wonder Lake, IL 60097. Fr. Andrew Skrobutt will be the celebrant. Following the funeral Mass, inurnment will be in the parish cemetery.
