Genevieve M. Farrell, age 80, of Prairie Grove, died Monday, February 4, 2008 at Lutheran General Hospital, Park Ridge.
She was born November 19, 1927 in Bridgeport, Connecticut to Bronislaw and Mary (Valesco) Rychlik. On October 2, 1950 she married George W. Farrell in Texas.
Genevieve was a twenty-five year resident of Oakwood Hills in Cary. The last five years she had lived in Prairie Grove.
She was employed as a secretary for Humble Oil and Refinary in Texas. She also worked for Columbia Records and was an administrative assistant at Lester Witte C.P.A. At the end of her working career she had worked at Follett Book Company in Crystal Lake.
Genevieve was a member of the Church of Holy Apostles, enjoyed the piano and playing bridge.
Survivors include her two sons, Thomas (Mary Jo) Farrell of Johnsburg, Mark (Christine) Farrell of Prairie Grove; three grandchildren, Megan (Matt) Skelly of Ottawa, Thomas E. Farrell of Woodridge, James Farrell of Prairie Grove; a sister, Helen (William) Coughlin; two brothers, Carl (Winnie) Rychlik, Albert (Patricia) Rychlik all of Connecticut; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband George W. Farrell on December 20, 2006; and her parents.
Visitation will be from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Thursday, February 7, 2008 at the George R. Justen & Son Funeral Home, 3519 W. Elm St., McHenry, IL 60050.
The visitation will continue on Friday, February 8, from 9:15 a.m. until the 10 a.m. funeral Mass at St. John the Baptist Church, 2302 W. Church Street, Johnsburg, IL. 60051.
Interment will be in Windridge Memorial Park Cemetery, Cary.
