Gerard E. Sniffen
Wonder Lake – Gerard E. Sniffen, age 81, of Wonder Lake, died Thursday, January 24, 2008, at Memorial Medical Center in Woodstock.
He was born March 5, 1926, in Buchanan, New York to Gerard L. and Minnie (Wagner) Sniffen.
Formerly of Chicago, Gerard had been a resident of Wonder Lake since 1982.
A veteran of the U.S. Navy, he served during World War II.
Gerard worked in the plumbing industry as a pipe fitter. He was a member of the Pipe Fitters Local Union #597. He was also a member of Christ the King Catholic Church and the Auxiliary to Northern Illinois Medical Center. Gerard had a passion for boating and enjoyed living in Wonder Lake. He loved animals, especially his dog, Rascal, and his cat, Kitty.
Survivors include his cherished friends, Bill (Sue) Keener of Wonder Lake, Jan McDowell of Wonder Lake, Tom (Martha) Wilson of Wonder Lake, Knute (Nell) Ramberg of Johnsburg, Karen Ramberg, and many other friends and acquaintances in the Wonder Lake area; also a nephew, Lawrence; and niece, Diane.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Jane E. (November 15, 1994); his parents; a brother, Richard Sniffen; and a sister, Shirley Guisti.
Friends may gather from 10 a.m. until the 11 a.m. Memorial Mass, Thursday, January 31, 2008, at Christ the King Catholic Church, 5006 E. Wonder Lake Road, Wonder Lake, IL 60097.
Inurnment will be in Christ the King Cemetery.
