Trudy Denecke, age 88, a longtime resident of Round Lake Beach, formerly of Chicago, Illinois, died Friday, January 9, 2015 at her home surrounded by her family.
She was born July 5, 1926 in Chicago, Illinois to Walter Galles and Gertrude Schodowski Galles.
Mrs. Denecke’s early wish and lifelong vocation was to be a wife and mother of many children. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Round Lake since the early 1950’s. Trudy was recognized with two others, all nominated by their parish, by the Archdiocese of Chicago with the Christifideles Award for long-term dedicated service to her parish community. She also served as a Fire Commissioner for the Round Lake Fire District for over 17 years. She valued and she enjoyed the support of both these communities. Trudy has also been a 30+ year supporter of the Al Anon program that meets at the parish.
Survivors include her children Audrey B., Kenneth E. (Patricia), Therese A. Denecke-Dattalo (Joseph), Edward J. (Marilyn), Jeffrey M., Henry M. (Karen), Patricia J. Welter (Jeffrey), Mary G. Behrens (Curtis), Lawrence M. (Gwen), Jeanne M. Lazzarotto (Daniel), Joni C., Paul B. (Carey) as well as her beloved 23 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren; a sister-in-law Geraldine (Edward) Perry of Alberta, Canada; a sister-in-law Margaret Denecke of California; and numerous loved nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents Walter and Gertrude Galles, and step-mother Stella Galles, her husband Kenneth William on September 14, 1999, her 3 angels in heaven, her dearly loved father and mother-in-law William and Gertrude Denecke, her dear sister Lorraine (Lola) Jozaitis Infusino, brothers-in-law John Jozaitis and George Infusino, brother Ernest J. Galles, sister Anritta (Dolly) Pieniazek and brother-in-law Edward, a step-sister Lorraine Jozaitis and step-brother Raymond S. Cislak, her brother-in-law William R. Denecke and sister-in-law Dorothy Denecke, and nephews Jim Denecke, Steve Denecke, and Joseph J. Jozaitis and other dear family members.
Friends of the family may call between 4:00-9:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 13th at JUSTEN FUNERAL HOME, 222 North Rosedale Court, Round Lake, Illinois. A Catholic Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, January 14 at St. Joseph Church in Round Lake. Interment will follow at Ascension Cemetery, Libertyville, Illinois.
