Gertrude Theresa “Terri” Dodd, age 80, of Crystal Lake, died Wednesday, October 20, 2010 at Good Shepherd Hospital in Barrington.
She was born December 26, 1929 in Chicago to Thomas and Margaret (Randazzo) Marino.
Formerly of Glenview, she was a resident of Crystal Lake for the past 20 years. Early in her career, she worked in the Chicago area in the printing industry, primarily in bindery operations. Later she was employed in the administrative area by the Avon Corporation in Morton Grove for 15 years, retiring at the age of 66. Most recently, she and her daughter began a new business, Home Plate Designs, where she designed beautiful serving platters.
She enjoyed taking trips throughout the country with her daughter and grandson, as well as visiting her sister in Florida. She loved following her grandson’s hockey games throughout school, and wouldn’t miss traveling to tournaments to show her support. She helped her son in his business, and they shared a love of opera and music. A loving and giving person, she will be remembered for her elegant style and wonderful baked goods.
Survivors include a daughter, Florence Kayser of McHenry; a son, Frank Dodd of Crystal Lake; a grandson, Brian (fiancee Stacie Zehrer) Kayser of McHenry; and a sister, Angelina (the late Joseph) Masi of Prospect Heights and Ft. Lauderdale.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, William L. Dodd in 1998; and a brother, Ben Marino.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday, October 26, 2010, at Justen Funeral Home & Crematory, 3700 W. Charles J. Miller Road, McHenry.
The visitation will resume at 8 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, until leaving in procession following 9 a.m. prayers. The funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. at St. Thomas Church, Crystal Lake.
Interment will be in Crystal Lake Memorial Park, Crystal Lake.
