Gregory Carl Rice, age 56, of Round Lake Beach, died Tuesday, June 23, 2015, at his home.
Born February 16, 1959 in Chicago to Loy L. and Shelba J. (Toth) Rice, he grew up in Hickory Hills. On June 26, 1982, Greg married Sharon Trepina in Wheaton. After their marriage, Greg and Sharon lived in Woodridge before residing in Round Lake Beach for the past 33 years.
Greg’s career was in the field of computer program & engineering. He was employed for over 30 years by International Harvester, and later worked at the company after it was acquired by Komatsu. Most recently, he was employed by Capitol One.
Greg’s family was his focus in life. While his children were growing up, he served as coach for Avon baseball, and was always eager to cheer on his daughter’s swim team, the Round Lake Ducks. He loved to spend time with his family outdoors, and many of his treasured memories were from cruise trips with his family.
Survivors include his wife of nearly 33 years, Sharon; two children, Ryan (Lindsay) Rice and Taryn (Mike) Stonelake; two grandchildren, Bernice and Sophia; his father, Loy (Eileen) Rice; his mother, Shelba (the late Patrick) Santelli; two brothers, Regan (Donna) Rice and Tim (Cheryl) Rice; two sisters, Kim (Mike) Marshall and Trina (Matt) Arturi; and his mother-in-law, Rose T. Trepina.
He was preceded in death by his father-in-law, John Trepina.
Visitation will be from 2 p.m. until 6 p.m. Saturday, June 27, 2015, at Justen’s Round Lake Funeral Home, 222 N. Rosedale Court, Round Lake, IL 60073. The funeral service will be at 6 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home. The cremation rite will be accorded privately.
