Gus Baxter Neill Jr., age 86, of McHenry, died Saturday, August 4, 2012, at Alden Terrace of McHenry.
He was born August 24, 1925 in Thalia, TX, to Gus Baxter and Myrtle (Johnson) Neill.
A veteran of the U.S. Navy, he was stationed in Guam during World War II.
Formerly a 35 year resident of Mt. Prospect, Gus moved to McHenry in 2008. He received his B. S. Degree in Engineering at Texas Tech University and his M.B.A. from the University of Chicago in 1974. He was employed by Appleton Electric and later became director of manufacturing engineers at Emerson Electric in Chicago
An avid singer, he sang with the Arlingtones Barbershop Quartet and later with the New Traditions Chorus of Northbrook. He also enjoyed playing the piano and organ.
Survivors include two daughters, Nancy (Bill) Thome of McHenry and Kimberley (Steve) Miller of Keller, TX; two grandchildren, Kyle Miller and Shannon Miller, both of Keller, TX.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his beloved first wife, Billie Lou (nee Limbert) in 1990, and also his second wife, Betty Jean (nee Henrichs).
Inurnment will be private.
