McHenry – James B. Sullivan, age 84, of McHenry, died Thursday, August 9, 2007, at his home.
He was born January 12, 1923 in Chicago to James J. And Frances F. (Foley) Sullivan. On September 28, 1946, he married Genevieve Kwak at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Chicago.
James was a Veteran of the United States Air Force serving in India during WWII.
Born and raised in Chicago, he moved to Cary in 1964. From there James moved with his family to Crystal Lake in 1975, then to El Paso, TX in 1979, before moving to McHenry in 1985.
James had been a member of the Knights of Columbus and at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in McHenry. He was an avid stamp and coin collector, as well as a loving father and devoted grandfather and great-grandfather.
Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Genevieve; nine children, James (Mary) Sullivan of Juneau, WI, Patricia (Dennis) Holm of Missouri City, TX, John (Barbara) Sullivan of McHenry, Kathleen Howley of Chadsford, PA, Frances (Danny) Wiggs of Crystal Lake, Kevin Sullivan of Cary, Mary (Joseph) Songin of Burlington, WI, Jane (Roger) Pechous of McHenry, and Michelle (Mario) Crocco of Wauconda; 22 Grandchildren; 12 Great-Grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Maurice Sullivan; two sisters, Marion Schlueter and Deloris Sullivan.
Friends may greet the family from 10:00 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Tuesday, August 14, 2007, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 1401 N. Richmond Rd., McHenry, IL 60050. The funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, August 14, at the church, with the Rev. Robert Balog officiating.
Interment at St. Mary’s Cemetery, McHenry.
