James Keith Wills, age 87, formerly of Downers Grove and most recently of Johnsburg, died Saturday, March 3, 2007, at Seasons Hospice in Chicago, IL.
He was born June 14, 1919 in Chicago to Raymond and Edith (Taylor) Wills. On January 16, 1943 he was united in marriage to Helen Terrel in Hamilton, Illinois.
A Downers Grover resident for over 35 years he had recently moved to Johnsburg in November 2005. He was a member of the former Grace Baptist Church of Downers Grove.
James was a United States Navy Captain, retiring after 29 years of service. He served in WWII, the Korean War, and the Vietnam War. He was decorated with two silver stars and Thailand Highest Honor received, Order of the White Elephant.
He was educated at Carthage College, Carthage, IL. in Mathematics. He then entered the Naval Service and later became a professor at Illinois Institute of Technology. He was also a golf coach.
He is survived by his wife Helen of 64 years; three children, Sue (Bill) Klein of Winnetka, Toni (Warren) Reynolds of Johnsburg, Cathy (Frank) Ferguson of Geneva; two grandchildren, Michael (Rhonda) Bradfield, Olivia (John “Peach”) Haas; four great grandchildren, Cody, Ireland, Cameron, and Quinn; a brother, Thomas Emery (the late Winnie) Wills of Shorewood; and a sister, Jean Maoirana of Las Vegas, NV.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
A Celebration of Life will be held at his home, 3211 Kendall Crossing, Johnsburg, on Saturday, March 10, 2007 at 11 a.m. with Military Honors at 11:30 a.m.
