Javier Lares passed away at the age of 55 on April 30, 2022, after a brief, but aggressive battle with pancreatic cancer. He was born on June 17, 1966, in Wilcox, AZ.
He was raised in Chicago, IL with his Mom and three siblings. He attended Chicago area schools and graduated from Amundsen High School in 1984. He enjoyed hanging out with his friends, playing basketball, fishing and hunting. He was a machinist for most of his career and in recent years was a US Postal worker for Crystal Lake, IL where he retired.
Above all, he was the greatest father to his two children Amanda and Javier Jr. From teaching his son how to play baseball and chasing after the ladies, to guiding his daughter to becoming a young woman, he exemplified all the qualities you would ever want in a father.
As a brother, he led the way from one adventure to the next. He was fearless and determined to be the one to jump in headfirst. He was loving, generous, selfless, the life of the party, free spirited and always made sure you felt welcomed in any room you shared with him. He loved his family, second to none, and protected them with fierce affection.
Javier is predeceased by Blanca Estela Lares (sister), Hermelinda Pena (grandmother), Blanca Emma (aunt), Olivia Pena (aunt), Jesus Pena (uncle), Amparo Escamilla (aunt) and Francisco Pena (uncle).
Javier is survived by his two children Amanda Celina Lares and Javier Marcelo Lares, Mother Henrietta Gamboa, siblings: Olga Baruffi, Delfino Lares, Aida Martin, and Eva Gamboa.
Celebration of his life will be held at the Justen Funeral Home, 3700 Charles J. Miller Road, McHenry, IL on Friday May 6, 2022 from 3-6 pm. A memorial service will follow.
