Jerry Michael Snell, age 62, of Harvard, died Thursday, July 11, 2013 at Centegra Hospital – McHenry after a long struggle with heart and kidney disease. Born July 28, 1950, in Oneida, New York to Theodore and Wyona (Stone) Snell. Jerry lived a full and diversified life spending time in New York, New Mexico, Arizona, Florida, Alabama and Illinois. During his lifetime, Jerry worked as a professional firefighter, a poultry farmer, a newspaper carrier and a product placement manager at Meijer Supermarket where he recently retired after 10 years of employment. Jerry also rose to the rank of 4th Degree in the Knights of Columbus and he attended St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Johnsburg, IL.
Jerry was very much a family man. The best times of his life were being with his children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and his sisters and brothers.
He is survived by his seven children: Theresa Mullins, Michael (April) Snell, Heather (Greg) Beck, Dorene (Russell) Lopez, Denise (Ben) Copeland, Matt Snell and Josh Snell; 14 grandchildren, four great grandchildren, six brothers and sisters, Jack Snell, Ron (Astaire) Snell, Irene (Chris) Stickler, Jeanne (Joe) Hand, Sheila Koski, Joanne Binder, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation for Jerry will be from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Monday, July 15, 2013 at Justen Funeral Home, 3700 W. Charles Miller Road, McHenry, IL.
The funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, July 16, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 2302 W. Church Street, Johnsburg IL.
Interment will be in Elm Lawn Cemetery, Elmhurst, IL.
