I believe I was in 1st /2nd/3rd? Grade with John if he lived at Fort Sheridan during early 60s. I carved our initials in the wooden box of my father's 51 BIG Ford truck. K+J = love. I don't know why I thought of him today and found him but I'm compelled to share this memory. God Bless others remembering John.

I worked with John for years at UL in the late 70’s and early 80’s. He was known as Java John sinceha always had a coffee in his hand or would pour us one from his pitcher. He never had a bad word to say about anyone. He was fun to be around. Although we have not spoken for awhile, I am sure he did not change. I can not be there today because I am away, Kay. My name is Tony Judeika. John was my boss for years at Great Lakes Naval Base. John was a great man. He treated all his employees with great respect on one job we started at 6.00 am and worked till 1.00 am the next day. John worked with us the whole time. It was a physical demanding job to say the least. When we restored power to all units, John said go home, I will clean up. It must have taken him hours. When I came back the next day, all the tools were put away and everything was cleaned up. That's the kind of man he was. God bless you, John Andrus, the best boss I ever had.
