John W. Diamond, age 59, of Crystal Lake, died Thursday, March 31, 2011, at Hospice of Northeastern Illinois in Barrington.
He was born May 27, 1951 in Melrose Park to John E. and Antoinette (Laraia) Diamond. On Sept. 14, 1974, he married Linda A. Papa at Our Lady of the Brook Church in Northbrook.
Formerly a 30 year resident of McHenry, John lived in Crystal Lake for the past 5 years. For the majority of his career, he was an engineer in the plastics manufacturing field. He was employed by Catalent Co. in Woodstock, where he designed machining and several manufacturing processes. Previously he was employed at Hoffer Plastics in South Elgin for many years..
He was a member of St. Patrick Church in McHenry. An avid golfer, he also enjoyed photography and fishing. He was active with the Boy Scouts with his two sons; and enjoyed his role as a doting grandfather.
Survivors include his wife of 36 years, Linda; a daughter, Stephanie (Dave) Fasking of Debary, Florida; two sons, Justin Diamond of Crystal Lake and Jeffrey (April) Diamond of Woodstock; five grandchildren, Samantha, Brayden, and Evan Diamond, and David and Sophia Fasking; and two sisters, Antoinette (Jim) Moran of Crystal Lake and Diane (the late Edward) Thomas of Naples, Florida.
Visitation will be from 4 PM to 8 PM, Wednesday, April 6, 2011, and will resume at 8:45am on Thurdsay, April 7, 2011 at Justen Funeral Home & Crematory, 3700 W. Charles J. Miller Road, McHenry. The funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, April 7, at St. Patrick Catholic Church. Interment will be in St. Michael the Archangel Cemetery in Palatine.
