Joseph “Twig” Evert III, age 61, of Round Lake Park, died Saturday, October 14, 2017, at his residence. He was born in Evanston, on August 6, 1956 to Joseph Jr. and Beverly (Gavigan) Evert. On September 6, 1998, he married Dianne L. Fesanco in Grayslake.
Twig has been a resident of Round Lake Park for 21 years. He was a valued employee for Blanton & Sons Plumbing & Sewer in Round Lake. The last few years he has been an independent courier for Jung Logistics. Twig proudly served in the US Army from 1975 to 1977, and was a past member of the American Legion Post 1170 in Round Lake Park, and a member of Post 771 in Gurnee.
Papa, as he was affectionately known, loved animals, enjoyed woodworking, watching westerns, and reading books about military history. His was an avid collector of all things Scooby Doo. Among other things, he was an avid Cubs, Bears, and Blackhawks fan. Papa was a loving husband, caring father, doting grandfather, fond brother, and terrific uncle who will be missed by many.
Joe is survived by his wife of 19 years, Dianne; her three children, Richard Talaga, Anthony (Shawndra) Talaga, Nicole (Mark) Didier; a grandson Anthony Zelewsky; five siblings, Richard (Jennifer) Evert, Linda (Doreen) Kiple, Beverly “Bebbie” Goheen, Michelle “Mitzie” Evert, Sherry (the late Robert) Riley; his uncle Ray (Sally) Gavigan; 3 nieces; 5 nephews; 18 great-nieces and nephews; and 2 great-great nieces.
In addition to his parents, Joe was preceded in death by his nephew, P.J. Kiple on May 2, 2011.
A memorial visitation will be from 1 p.m. until 4 p.m., Sunday, October 22, 2017, at Justen’s Round Lake Funeral Home, 222 N. Rosedale Court, Round Lake, IL 60073. The funeral service will be 3 p.m. at the funeral home.
The cremation rite was accorded privately.
