Joseph M. “Joe” Loftus, age 52, died Monday, February 20, 2006.
He was born August 16 1953 in Pennsylvania, the son of Joseph F. and Marcella (Fago) Loftus. He relocated to Rockford in grade school. He married Levia Sasser on October 15, 1977 at Court Street Methodist Church in Rockford. They moved to Mendota, where they began their family, and then came to live in McHenry in 1988. He was a printer for many years, and was employed with Creekside Press in Elgin. He was also a printing consultant for many years with Loftus Consulting.
Joe enjoyed music, especially classic rock, including Bob Dylan. He was a history buff, and also enjoyed gardening and his pets. His greatest joy was spending time with his family and friends.
Survivors include his wife of 28 years, Levia of McHenry; two children, Brendan (Dia) Loftus of Johnsburg, and Charlotte Loftus of McHenry; his mother, Marcella Loftus of Rockford; a brother, Mike Loftus of Belvidere; a sister Peg Loftus of Newark, DE; and special friends, Will House of Ringwood, and Becky Schultz of McHenry.
He was preceded in death by his father, Joseph F. Loftus.
Friends may greet the family Thursday, February 23, from 12:30 until the 1:00 pm memorial service at the George R. Justen & Son Funeral Home, 3519 W. Elm St., McHenry, Il 60050.
Visitation will continue on Thursday until 2:30 p.m.
