Joseph R. Kohler, age 65, of Round Lake Beach, died Wednesday, Sept. 15, 2010, at Christ Hospital in Oak Lawn.
Born April 5, 1945 in North Chicago to Joseph G. and Irma (Ricke) Kohler, Joseph was raised in Waukegan. He served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. After discharge, he married Marie and they raised four beautiful children.
Joseph worked in the tool and die industry for many years. He enjoyed astrology and reading, and sports activities including downhill snow skiing, tennis, hunting, and fishing.
He is survived by four children, Joseph Jr. ( Crystal) Kohler of Lakeville, MN, Theresa Bender of Gurnee, Michele (Michael Smith) Kohler of Trevor, and Sara (John) Sperle of Round Lake Beach; eight grandchildren, Zachary, Emily, Tristan, Nikolas, Trever, Ethan, Lucas, and Nina; a brother, Robert Kohler of Waukegan; three sisters, Kathy (Willliam) Baxter of Waukegan, Mary (Gary) Bunch of Lake Villa, and Patty Merz of Round Lake Beach; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Steven; and two sisters, Yvonne Seveska and Barbara Kohler.
Visitation will be from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 18, 2010, at Justen’s Round Lake Funeral Home, 222 N. Rosedale Court, Round Lake, IL 60073. The funeral service will be at 4 p.m. in the funeral home, with Rev. Lisle Kauffman officiating.
The cremation rite will be accorded privately.
