Kathy Lynn Rude, age 54, of Vernon Hills, died Saturday, May 24, 2014, at Rush University Medical Center in Chicago.
She was born May 29, 1959 in Chicago to Everett Marvin and Marilyn Ruth (Steinweg) Rude. Raised in Wheeling, Kathy was a 1977 graduate of Wheeling High School. After high school, she began her career in the mortgage/investment lending field at Sears, and continued with the company through ownership changes with PNC, Chase, and Washington Mutual. For the past seven years, she was employed in investor accounting by Dovenmuehle in Lake Zurich.
During her leisure time, she enjoyed reading, country western dancing, and needlepoint. She created beautiful portraits in counted cross-stitch of her niece and nephews. Kathy also enjoyed cooking and baking, especially when she was able to entertain family. Proud of her Norwegian heritage, she had mastered many special Norwegian family recipes. She was very close to her family, and will be remembered as a friendly and good-humored person, generous and willing to help others.
Survivors include her parents, Everett and Marilyn Rude of Lakemoor; a brother, Marvin (Brenda) Rude of Round Lake Beach; a sister, Deborah (James) Nihei of Vernon Hills; three nephews, James Nihei, Justin (Maria) Nihei, and Daniel Rude; and a niece, Kayla Rude.
Visitation will be from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. Wednesday, May 28, 2014, at Justen Funeral Home & Crematory, 3700 W. Charles J. Miller Road, McHenry, IL 60050. The funeral service will be at 7 p.m. Wednesday in the funeral home, with Rev. Roger Schneider officiating. The cremation rite will be accorded privately.
