Kellie Lyn Crum Metoxen, age 42 of Wonder Lake, Illinois, passed away on December 8, 2021, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on February 22, 1979, in Elk Grove, Illinois to Timothy and Beverly (Bailie) Crum.
During “Crummie’s” high school days at Elk Grove she was known for the many records she set throughout her basketball career, her “glory days” as she would recall it. Kellie was in the top ten of MSL South Division in free throw percentage, points per game, field goal percentage, and rebounds. She was also selected to the Mid-Suburban League “All Conference Team” her senior year. Kellie had very fond memories of playing with all her teammates, and talked about it all the time. Kellie adored playing any sport and played her best in high school softball as well. She loved her German shepherds growing up, Rex and K.C., one of which was hers named after her initials “K.C.”. Rock music was her go-to as well as her classics. She loved her wrestlers and was a big sports/music memorabilia collector. She was an employee of G.S. Floor Designs for 6 years, was an excellent designer fabricator, and created many things with her working hands. One such was a carpet created with her former husband Joey Metoxen. The carpet was dedicated to the New York firefighters and first responders of 9/11. Still proudly displayed in the 9/11 museum in New York, the carpet resides near ground zero. Kellie was very much devoted to her family, especially her best friend Gramma “Biff” (Bev). She was a huge Chicago sports fan, minus the Cubs (of course). Everyone and anyone adored her cooking. You could rely on Kellie for anything because she would always help anyone thanks to her strong interior, exterior, and heart of gold. We love you more. Always.
Kellie was preceded in death by Katherine (little Grama) Bailie, her grandpa John Bailie, her grandma Clara Crum and her brother-in-law, Todd Hattendorf.
Kellie is survived by her children; Ireland D. Cabrera, Gavin W. Metoxen, Dunnavin O. Metoxen, Samantha M. Vale-Hattendorf, her siblings; Timothy (Diane) Crum, Stacey Crum, her parents; Timothy and Beverly (Bailie) Crum, her nieces; Allison M. Ortiz-Crum, Jessica L. Crum, Adam Crum, Jamie Crum, Stephanie L. Bostedt, William (Billy) Bostedt, Chloe Nakashian, and Starlit Sanchez, her dear friends; Joey Metoxen, Joseph Cabrera, Rodolfo Cabrera and Teresa Cabrera.
