Kenneth Joseph Prazak, age 65, of Norfork, Arkansas and formerly of McHenry, died Monday, September 29, 2014, at Baxter Regional Medical Center in Mountain Home, Arkansas.
He was born October 1, 1948 to Joseph C. and Agnes (Slechta) Prazak. On April 19, 1969, he married Susan Bitterman at St. Patrick Catholic Church in McHenry.
A resident of McHenry for 38 years, Ken and his wife were residents of Norfork, Arkansas for the past 14 years. Ken retired from the City of McHenry in June of 2000 after serving 28 years as a police officer with the McHenry Police Department. From 1968 to 1972, Ken served with the U.S. Coast Guard.
Ken was a former member of Moose Lodge #691. Enjoyments included playing and coaching softball with his softball team, “Last Call”. While his daughters were growing up, he also coached the Pig Tail League. A loving husband, father, grandfather, and brother, he will be dearly missed by his family.
Ken is survived by his wife of 45 years, Susan; three daughters, Tracy (Frank Romano) Jaramillo, Heather (Shane) Krumweide, and Nicole Prazak; seven grandchildren, Kandice, Shannon, Shane, Samantha, Alex, Kenny, and Zion; a great grandson, Kaleb and a great-granddaughter, Jayden; a brother, Donald (Anna) Prazak and a sister, Jollynn (Michael) Crouse.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his father-in-law and mother-in-law.
Visitation will be from 2 p.m. until 6 p.m. Saturday, October 4, 2014, at Justen Funeral Home & Crematory, 3700 W. Charles J. Miller Road, McHenry, IL 60050. The funeral service will be at 6 p.m. in the funeral home. Inurnment will be private.
His family suggests memorials be directed to St. Jude Childrens Research Hospital or to the McHenry County Police Charities for their Shop With A Cop program.
