Kenneth Linford Miltimore, age 96, of McHenry, died Friday, September 9, 2011 at the McHenry Villa in McHenry, Illinois.
He was born October 27, 1914 in Los Angeles, California to Linford S. and Minnie E. (McElroy) Miltimore.
Prior to moving to McHenry in 2009, Kenneth was formerly a resident of Desert Hot Springs and Big Bear City in California. He owned and operated a hardware store in Big Bear City, where he was also named honorary Mayor. A former employee of Pacific Bell, he co-developed the ability of making 1000 calls simultaneously thru a single phone line. He inherited Madison Builders in 1949, which constructed automobile service stations across the country. During the depression, he drove a taxi.
Kenneth was a member of the A.F. & A.M. Masonic Lodge No. 617 in Big Bear Lake, CA. In 2010, he received his Masonic 50th year pin at Union Park Lodge No. 610 in Chicago. He was also a member of Kiwanis in California.
Survivors include his wife, LaVerne M. Miltimore; a son, Gary Miltimore; a daughter, Penny Werk; three grandchildren; and several step-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 3:30 p.m. until 7:30 p.m., Monday, September 12, 2011, at Justen Funeral Home & Crematory, 3700 W. Charles J. Miller Road, McHenry.
The funeral service will be at 5:30 p.m. Monday, September 12, at the funeral home. A Masonic Service will also be held at 7:30 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
Interment will be in California.
