Leonie M. Barrett, age 61, of Johnsburg, passed away Sunday, November 8, 2015, at Centegra Hospital- McHenry (NIMC).
She was born November 12, 1953 in Waukegan to Richard and Esther (May) Schneider. On September 9, 1979, Leonie married George Barrett in Woodstock, IL.
A lifetime resident, Leonie loved and lived on the Fox River in Johnsburg and was a faithful parishioner of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church. She worked at Centegra Hospital- McHenry (NIMC) for 38 years in the Surgical Out Patient Unit. Leonie was known for being the friendliest helping hand to her patients and neighbors. Leonie enjoyed vacationing in Mexico with her husband, and boating on the Fox River. She loved reading and swimming in her pool with her granddaughters.
Leonie is survived by her husband of 36 years, George; her son George R. (Nicole) Barrett; two grandchildren, Brooklyn, Brianna; three sisters, Bernadette (Bud) Messel, Celine (Leon) Haydam and Pauline (Buck) Wolff; her brother-in-law Richard Johnson; eight nieces and five nephews.
In addition to her parents, Leonie is preceded in death by her sister Mary Therese Johnson.
Friends and family may gather from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday, November 13, 2015, at Justen Funeral Home & Crematory, 3700 Charles J. Miller Road, McHenry, IL 60050. The funeral service will be 7:30 p.m. at the funeral home.
