Lloyd James Hoover, age 80, of Wonder Lake, died Tuesday, May 13, 2014 at Centegra Hospital – McHenry. He was born August 4, 1933 in Warwick, North Dakota to William and Evelyn (Rice) Hoover. On February 23, 1963 he married Claudette V. Ksiazyk in Evanston, IL.
He was a veteran the U.S. Army serving during peacetime, 1955 to 1957, in Germany.
Previously of Chicago, Lloyd had lived in Wonder Lake since 1998. He was employed as a roofer for United Roofing of Chicago for over 45 years. He was a member of United Union of Roofers, Waterproofers and Allied Workers Local # 11.
Lloyd loved spending time at his Wisconsin home. He enjoyed cowboy movies, especially John Wayne movies, and hosting barbeques. He will be remembered fondly as a very tolerant and generous man.
Survivors include his wife of fifty-one years, Claudette; six children, Douglas (Ingrid Mitchell) Charles of Woodstock, Stanley Charles of Chicago, Cynthia (Jack) Schmidt of Mt. Prospect, Robert (Teresa) Hoover of Bells, TN, Claudine (David) Rolnik of Gordon, WI, Donna (Brian) Verdino of Des Plaines; seven grandchildren, Brett Charles, David Hoover, James Hoover, Matthew Hoover, Adam Schmidt, Gage Schmidt, Ronnie Braun; a great grandchild, Logan; and a sister, Bernice Hedin of Anolka, MN.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Mae; and six brothers, Avon, Irvin, Frank, Gene, Bruce and Jerry.
Visitation will be from 1:30 p.m. until 4:30 p.m. Sunday, May 18, 2014 at Justen Funeral Home & Crematory, 3700 W. Charles J. Miller Road, McHenry, IL 60050.
The funeral service will be at 4:30 p.m. on Sunday, May 18, at the funeral home. The Rev. Lisle Kauffman will officiate.
