Loretta Dixon, age 90, of McHenry, died Saturday, June 25, 2011 at Crystal Pines Rehab and Healthcare Center in Crystal Lake, after a short illness.
She was born December 7, 1920 in Chicago to Emil and Virginia (Baumgart) Ruske. On September 5, 1942 she married Glenn Dixon in Chicago.
She had been a resident of McHenry for over 65 years. A homemaker the majority of her life, Loretta had been employed as a clerk for Gladstone’s Department Store and also for Karen’s Hallmark. She was a member of Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church, and a member of Royal Neighbor. She enjoyed playing cards, was an avid bingo player, loved shopping and looking for the best deal and was a very loyal Chicago Cubs fan.
She is survived by two children, Loridale (Gary) Ricker of McHenry, Glenn P. (Kathy) Dixon of McHenry; six grandchildren, David( Vicki) Ricker, Jenny (David) Eaker, Robert Dixon, Fred (Marge) Dixon, Brandi (Joel) Johnson, Jeremy Dixon; four great grandchildren, Brittany, Christopher, Samantha and Jayden.
She was preceded in death by her husband Glenn on April 28, 1991; a son Robert on December 11, 1994; and her parents.
Services were private for the family.
Inurnment will be in Ridgewood Cemetery, Des Plaines.
